Our respect for the majestic and magical redwood tree is the foundation for our philosophy of guitar making. The Sequoia Semperviren, or coastal redwood tree, is the oldest living tree in the world and, to our ear, is unmatched in its sonic qualities. We proudly keep and maintain 13 acres of redwood trees under a TPZ (Timber Protection Zone) which protects the trees from loggers and poachers. Our family has been salvaging musical-grade old growth redwood for decades, and nearly every Ronin instrument has been crafted from our cache of tone wood.

VERTICAL-GRAIN, MASTER GRADE RECLAIMED OLD GROWTH REDWOOD. THIS BLOCK CAME FROM A DOWN [IS "DOWN" RIGHT? I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT TREES] TREE WHICH CURED NATURALLY IN THE OPEN SUNSHINE FOR OVER 90 YEARS BEFORE BEING HAULED DOWN FROM OUR 13 ACRE PROPERTY OF PROTECTED REDWOOD FOREST. WE BELIEVE THE TREE WAS IN A SMALL FIRE OR STRUCK BY LIGHTNING, AS THE OUTER LAYERS OF BARK WERE CARBONIZED.
THE SHORTER WIDE BLOCKS OF RECLAIMED OLD GROWTH REDWOOD ARE USED PRIMARILY FOR MIRARI, MORNINGSTAR AND KINGBIRD/SONGBIRD MODELS. THE LARGER, THICKER BLOCKS ARE SET ASIDE FOR OUR BADMOON SEMI-HOLLOW BUILDS AND THE GEOrGIA LEE ALL-REDWOOD PARLOR ACOUSTIC.
